In July 2024, we opened our new artist-run facility in uptown Saint John. The objective of this project was to transform an unused floor of a commercial building into a thriving creative space for the arts community, which includes private studio space, shared studio space, and key amenities to meet the needs of our members, in an environment that is inclusive, safe and affordable.
The Harbour Studio Space is the result of work that began in 2022, as part of our Creative Spaces Project. With funding from the City of Saint John, this project engaged with artists, creative professionals, and property owners to better understand their needs, and find opportunities to meet the needs of both artists and landlords by developing unused commercial space into affordable studio spaces for our growing arts community. This prior work has laid the groundwork for the Harbour Studio, and future opportunities for new creative spaces.
