In recent years, Saint John has gained recognition as a cultural hub in our province, with increasing numbers of new festivals, art activities, and creative industries emerging in our community. At the same time, there is a lack of affordable spaces where artists, creative professionals, and arts organizations can do their work. Many commercial property owners and local businesses have under-used or under-developed spaces in their buildings that could be made use of.
The Creative Spaces Project is an ongoing project to identify key areas of need for space among artists, creative professionals, and arts organizations, and with outreach activities aimed at local businesses, arts organizations, and property owners to identify spaces in the city that are appropriate for use as art studios, offices, and performing arts events.
The objective of this project is to develop the necessary infrastructure, resources, and development requirements to begin making spaces available for local artists and creative professionals.
